CAREER
Mr. Collins earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 1987, an M.B.A. from Bentley College in 1993, and a J.D. at Suffolk University Law School in 2006. He is a registered Patent Attorney.
Mr. Collins brings more than 15 years in industry experience prior to entering the field of patent law, where he gained experience in areas such as computer hardware and software, telecommunications, and digital communications, and electromechanical control systems, and where he held key engineering and sales positions with established pioneers such as Digital Equipment Corporation, BBN Communications, and VideoServer. He began his career at Digital Equipment Corporation, where he was involved in the design and quality assurance testing of next-generation disk drive products. At BBN Communications, he contributed to the development of next-generation packet-switch network technology. At VideoServer, he designed multimedia-based communication networks for Fortune 500 companies and government agencies.
Since joining Onello & Mello LLP, Mr. Collins has been involved in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications, with areas of technical concentration in semiconductor devices and device fabrication processes, digital and analog circuits and systems, microprocessor architecture, communications systems, control systems optical devices, and medical devices.
