Mr. Onello has served the intellectual property law community for over 25 years. He specializes in strategic portfolio counseling, prosecuting US and foreign patent and trademark applications, performing patentability studies, and formulating validity and infringement opinions.

Mr. Onello takes the time to understand the needs of his clients and provides strategic counseling to help clients accomplish their business objectives. He fosters long-term relationships, frequently collaborating with clients from their inception, or “Day 1,” through pre-commercialization, product development, and ultimately to worldwide distribution and sales. Additionally, he provides support during the funding rounds that typically accompany these stages.

Counseled an Italy-based global leader in marine navigation equipment and helped the company build value in its patent portfolio, making it attractive for eventual purchase by a global GPS products company.

Represents a privately owned, Boston-based global leader in micro-dispensing pump technology for over 20 years since the business’s inception. Mr. Onello designs the patent portfolio to protect key technologies that distinguish the company’s products over competitors.
Maintains a 25-year relationship with a global semiconductor design and manufacturing company. Mr. Onello has written and prosecuted over 100 key patent families for technology identified by the company as mission-critical. To date, he’s helped the company obtain over 1,800 patents.

Prior to his legal career, Mr. Onello developed a strong foundation in hardware engineering and software development. He held various positions as a design engineer specializing in developing digital signal processing systems, embedded microprocessor systems, and related software and firmware.
